Begins: 'Sir | I am shocked at just discovering that I neglected to put on Thursday into the Post Office at Sheffield a letter which I had written to you - Its object was to thank you for your obliging communication & visit and to express my regret that I had not the pleasure of seeing you - I return to Eyam on Thursday and should be very glad to visit Barlow on Friday'. He wonders whether it 'may not be inconvenient' for the recipient to meet his brother there, 'with your gun, and we will walk over the manor together - I can bring two tolerable dogs' Cantley Hall was the home of Eden's wife's family (Childers)..
