For Wolff's various activities, see his long entry in the Oxford DNB. 3pp., 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged, with traces of grey paper mount adhering on blank reverse of second leaf. He has been 'shocked to find' that he did not answer Cavendish's letter when he was 'elected'. 'The fact was that at the time I was very seedy & had a heap of letters to write both to constituents & on other private business. This made me perhaps overlook what I intended to do at once & what I thought till lately I really had done.' Cavendish asked for his autograph, '& you have now an abundance of it.' He concludes with the Italian proverb: 'il lupo avanti al gridare fugge'.
