[ Rothschilds; yachting ] Letter Signed "Bn. Arthur de Rothschild", the text in a Secretarial hand (prob.) to "Mr. St Clare Byrne, 48 Castle Street, L'pool" [St Clare John Byrne, a naval architect, specializing in the construction of luxury yachts.

Four pages, 12mo, bifolium, sl. dingy, and stained, tiny closed tear on fold mark, text clear and complete. Small docketing slip added to last page by Byrne (presumably) giving name of correspondent and dates of receipt and answer. Annotated on first page presumably by Byrne "recd 30th | an[swere]d 31st". Rothschild is "returning" a telegram and "the specification of the Candace". "From what you say about the 'Eros' [underlined; see note below ], I very much fear you are under the erroneous impression she is not worth more than a sixpence or so.
