Unpaginated, folio, red calf, worn edges and spine, virtually every page either written on or with typescript pasted on, with other relevant enclosures. Minutes recorded from the first meeting in 1883 to 1946. Presumably this was the Company responsible for publishing the "Shipping World and Herald of Commerce" (Gresham Press, 1883ff - the Company operated out of "The Gresham Press Building according to a piece of printed ephemera enclosed - including relevant circulars and financial statements). Contents mainly concern the nitty-gritty of a Company, shares, share transfers, elections of officers, financial reports, articles of agreement, attendees, etc etc. But other matters creep in, including (first meeting) the "design for the title page", the appointment of an editor (Major Evan R.Jones) and his salary. Later, other subjects include: registration as a newspaper, postage, staffing, shareholders, accounts, plans to establish a presence for the periodical in major shipping centres like LIverpool, advertising, contents of the periodical, agents, shipping slump c.1937, etc etc. Names (and signatories, usually multiple) include Wigham Richardson (of the Shipping Company), Arthur Coote, Archibald Hurd, Evan R. Jones, etc. A later report (1946) includes matters such as the issuing of "The Shipping World Year Book" i two volumes, other Diaries, an Export Issue - in other words the volume finishes on a high.
