Frontispiece portrait of Butler by J. Van der Gucht. Hogarth's seven illustrations (including three that fold out) face pp. 1, 75 (fold out), 88 (f. o.), 100, 122, 130 (f. o.), 131 and 182 (f. o.). Internally tight on spotted and aged paper. Good impressions of illustrations, with a little light foxing. Repair to endpapers, and heavy wear to early nineteenth-century binding with front cover nealry detached. Ownership inscription of 'Ann Andrew' at head of title. In nineteenth-century hand on front pastedown: 'This Book is scarce the Prints being Hogarths & valuable', followed by, in another hand, 'H W Newell to A Aralla Hornbuckle 1849', and, in a third hand, 'E Worthington 1880 From A.
