31 + [1] pp., small 4to. With frontispiece engraved portrait of Hand. In original cream printed wraps, with 'DANIEL HAND.' printed on front cover in brown ink. In good condition, lightly-aged and worn. Presentation inscription at head of front cover: 'for Mrs. Evans - | with Compliments of G. A. Wilcox | Detroit.' Eight copies at American libraries on OCLC WorldCat, and the only copy on COPAC at the British Library. The manuscript, in Wilcox's hand, is 3pp., 12mo, on bifolium 1880s letterhead of the Hotel Metropole, London. It is divided into six numbered sections, dealing with the descendants of John Hand, Joseph Hand, Joseph Hand the second ('Son of Joseph above'), Jannah Hand ('Son of Joseph 2d'), Captain Daniel Hand and Daniel Hand the second ('Son of Capt. Daniel Hand'). With a proof, headed in contemporary manuscript 'Jan 19th', of an obituary notice of Dr George Hand, who 'died yesterday in London, England, in his 67th year'. Also present is a newspaper cutting of a long letter by 'G. A. W.' [i.e. Wilcox] 'To the Editor of The Tribune', dated 'New Haven, Oct. 27, 1888', headed 'A Sketch of Daniel Hand.
