Above this text is an elaborate coat of arms, headed Let Glasgow Flourish Deus Gubernat Navum, images of an anchor and foliage surround two images, one resembling the current Glasgow coat-of-arms (Bird on tree with fish) the other a ship with sun and moon and coats-of-arms hanging from the cross-mast. To the right of these images a ship is sailng in full sail on the horizon.
