Dougal received an appreciative obituary in The Times, 15 June 1948 ('His contributions to the literature of his subject were numerous and valuable. [...] his reputation was world wide. [...] only ill-health prevented him from allowing himself to be nominated for the presidency of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, an honour he richly deserved.'). The Times obituary describes Dougal as 'a keen soldier', who in 1939 'threw up his extensive practice and was appointed colonel commanding the large military hospital at Davyhulme, Manchester, which he organized and staffed in all departments'. The three parts are all in good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Each of three consists of duplicated typewritten notes, with the text printed on loose leaves of foolscap paper tied into a bundle with string, with a piece of blank brown card added at the end. Each with 'PRIVATE' printed above the drophead title on the first page, which also carries a table of contents, with 'Seventh Edition, 1944.' at the foot. Each volume ends with an index. Part Two: [1] + 107pp. Part Three: [1] + 111pp. Part Four: [1] + 158pp. Excessively scarce: no copies of this title, nor of any other edition of it, on COPAC or OCLC WorldCat. From an archive of items belonging to Daphne Kayton of the Royal Army Medical Corps.
