Autograph letter signed to R. Ackermann.

Journalist and miniature painter (1776-1842). One page, 4to,edges discoloured, spike-hole causing minor loss, text clear as follows: "Allow me to express my acknowledgments to you for the very handsome though unsolicited manner in which, in the last number of your Repository, you have been pleased to speak of my little picture now exhibiting at Somerset House.- As I am a neighbour o[f] [y]ours, if, in return for your politeness you will accept of a miniature of yourself or of any of your family, I shall be very happy to paint and present it to you." Note: On address leafthere is a note "Mr Watts, Cecil Street/ June 12-/11" poss. in Ackermann's hand.
