The text of the printed volume is neatly and skilfully copied over 61pp., 4to., and ruled in red. Interspersed with a number of pages carrying only the red ruling. Internally good and tight, in worn brown morocco binding with front hinge nearly detached, with heavily-worn spine with no label and singeing at head and foot. Gilt dentelles, both internal and external, and the following stamped within decorative border at centre of both covers: 'SERIES CHRONOLOGICA | IMPERATORUM | ROMANORUM | 1655'. All edges gilt and marbled endpapers, with front pastedown carrying three bookplates: at top small square of 'Ettington Manuscript Library'; in middle armorial bookplate of 'William Staunton, of Longbridge in Warwickshire, Esqr.'; at foot small armorial shield, trimmed to shape. Expansively inscribed in pencil on flyleaf: 'for Lionel S. Darley | from Berthold Wolpe | June 1952'. The purpose of the volume is unclear, the [calligraphic] execution impressive. Wolpe would have been interested in the calligraphy, Farley the binding (as binding's historian).
