Total 73pp., 4to, crude brown paper wraps, sewn, chipped and crumpled at the edge, contents good. Comprising four sermons based on Revelations, pp.15, 20,, 19, and 19. The titles of the 52 sermons already published are printed (also in MS.) on the inside covers, some titles faded. The lithographic process has been used to give the effect of a manuscript perhaps to deceive the eye of the sermon's audience into thinking it the sermoniser's own work. Presumably a vanity production, using the new technology of lithograph, no other copy of this or any other sermon in this series has been found (on COPAC etc), although survivals may well appear which have lost the identification of the publisher the wraps. This copy, as well as three other copies of the same sermon lacking wraps, derive from the family archive of Edward John Shepherd, sometime Vicar of Luddesdown and Trottescliffe, Kent, etc. (1827-1874), sermons and "Letters" to S.R. Maitland (c.1852). Perhaps he had a clerical ancestor who was responsible for this production.
