1p, 12mo. Written lengthwise on a single leaf. In good condition, lightly aged, with strips of thick paper from mount adhering to the reverse, which carries Spurzheim's address to 'Mr Sowler | St Anns Square [Manchester]'. The recipient is Thomas Sowler the second, proprietor of the Manchester Courier, and father of Sir Thomas Sowler (1818-1891). The text reads: 'Dr. Spurzheim will be obliged if Mr Sowler will inform such subscribers to Dr S's Lecture he is acquainted with that on account of Sudden and Severe indisposition, he will not be able to commence until Thursday evening April 2 at at [sic] 7 o'clock, Mechanics Institution'. Spurzheim lectured in Manchester in 1829 and 1830.
