Sarah, late heiress of Sir Thomas Cave, Bart., of Stanford Hall, Leicestershire, and then wife of Henry Otway, became Baroness Braye in her own right in 1839. She died in 1862, aged ninety. 3 pages, 8vo, the first page with a mourning border. In good condition with the reverse of the second leaf attached to a docketted piece of paper. Although unknown to her correspondent she has been encouraged by her friends the Miss Stricklands to ask whether she may consult 'such Memorials as you may have, of some Ancestors of mine, The Verneys - and if you should object to my having Copies of Them - Miss Agnes Strickland [historian, see DNB, who wanted her to write 'before she went to Paris'] having told me you were possessed of some highly interesting Manuscripts of the family, & knowing me to be the sole Representative of Earl Verney, & my son of course after me, Will I hope excuse my giving you this trouble - and that you may rely on no Injury being done to whatever papers you may kindly entrust to me'. Ends by saying it would give her great pleasure to see him should he come to Town.
