See his entry in the Oxford DNB. Hamilton was a keen Latinist, even translating one of his Greyfriars stories into the language. 1p, 4to. In good condition, lightly aged and worn, with two corners dogeared. Folded for postage. Good firm signature at bottom left: ‘Frank Richards’. The typed poem, headed ‘WON’T YOU COME HOME, BILL BAILEY?’, begins with a twelve-line verse starting: ‘Aestivo dis sub caelo claro,’ The chorus, nine lines long, begins ‘ “Nonne vis umquam revemire donum?” ’ Upside down, at the foot of the page, and scored through, is the typewritten title of a poem not present: ‘WALTZING MATILDA / Latin verson [sic] by Frank Richards.’ See Image.
