One page, large octavo. Aged and with light staining. Docketed on second leaf of bifolium: 'Requesting Consuls not to receive Copies of books as presents to Her Majesty'. Printed facsimile of a handwritten document, headed 'Circular' and reading 'Inconvenience having been occasioned by a practice lately followed by some of Her Majesty's Diplomatick and Consular Servants of accepting on behalf of Her Majesty and forwarding to this Country copies of the works of foreign authors without having previously obtained authority so to do, I have received the Queen's commands to signify to you Her Majesty's pleasure that you should in no case accept any such offerings - without previous permission from this Department'. Aberdeen was Foreign Secretary in Peel's Ministry from 1841 to 1846.
