LETTER: Two pages, 12mo. Very good. Addressed on verso of second leaf of bifolium. Three postmarks (two in red and one in black ink) and red wax seal. Written after Wilson's appointment as Bishop, but before his departure from Islington, where he was Vicar of St Mary's. Addressing his 'dear friend' he excuses his silence, which is 'merely for the physical impossibility of answering a tenth part of the letters I receive'. His 'house has been over-full - IS now - I have not a bed free | At any time, however, I am to be found at Breakfast at 9 - & shall rejoice to see you'. '[I]f all be well', he will be at the dinner on 22 May, and the meeting of 5 June. CUTTING: roughly 60 x 23 cms. featuring three columns of print on each side. All but a few lines of one column are devoted to Wilson's reply, the article beginning 'An Address of congratulation from the clergy and other inhabitants of St. Mary, Islington, having been presented to his Lordship, the Bishop returned the following answer [...]'.
