[Thomas Tegg] Autograph Letter Signed to John Pitcairn, papermaker of Edinburgh (see SBTI).
Two pages, 4to,, creasing, minor damage and staining not affecting text. He sympathises with Pitcairn over a "loss" (his wife?) sympathising as "a husband and a father". The last time he was in Edinburgh he had little time at his disposal and didn't call on him. And "The moment my business is done I have no desire to stay." But he is visiting Edinburgh soon and will call, preferring that to writing. "In the meantime allow me to say that your charge for packing etc is a thing unheard of. I have had within these 20 years, upwards of 50,000£ worth of books and paper from Scotland, I never had the charge made before, with respect to the binding, there may be some reason for the demand but you will be pleased to recollect that a large quantity of the plates to complete the books were wanting which charge I forgot the gents name (I believe your son-in-law) arranged with Messrs Walker & Greig [printers, Edinburgh - see SBTI] that were to be allowed for this sum exceeds your demand by some pounds - I beg to refer you to them. . . . "
