On strip of laid paper (roughly 9 x 21 cm.) cut from contract. The signature 'Jerom Murch' is firm and bold, with an indistinct armorial seal in red wax to the right. The text on the reverse reads: '[…] Bequests therein contained) give and bequeath unto me the said Jerom Murch the Sum of Twenty pounds to be paid me within Six Months next after her death and by her said Will nominated and appointed Benjamin Stocker of Honiton aforesaid Brazier William John Tucker of the same place Clerk Courtenay Gidley of the same place Gentleman and the said Jerom Murch […]'. Text on signed side: '[…] whereof I the said Jerom Murch have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twentieth day of May in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and thirty one | Jerom Murch | Sealed and delivered In presence of [...]' The present signatory is not to be confused with his kinsman Sir Jerom Murch (1807-1896), Mayor of Bath and Unitarian minister.
