On one vellum skin. In fair condition, lightly aged and worn. Docketed 'No. 1 | Order left 22 May 1872. | Meml. regd. 23d. May 1872. | Order reld. 27th. May 1872' and 'Ashurst Morris & Co | 6 Old Jewry | E.C.' Arranged in the customary fashion, with tax stamps, and the signatures ('G: Ridley' and 'James Caird') on either side of the seal, on folded up strip at foot. The seal, in red wax on a green ribbon is 4.5 cm in diameter and in fair condition, with a few small fragments chipped away. The document is headed 'A Memorial to be registered of An Absolute Order of the Enclosure Commissioners for England and Wales bearing date the ninth May one thousand eight hundred and seventy two in pursuance of The Limited Owners Residences Act 1870 and The Improvement of Land Act 1864 Whereby they charged the Inheritance or fee of the Lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto with the payment to John Bowes of Streatland Castle Darlington in the County of Durham Esquire of the Yearly sum of Three hundred and forty eight pounds eleven shillings [...]'. The document mostly consists of 'The Schedule above referred to' and 'The Table above mentioned', the first listing the Name of Lands; Landowner; Occupier; Parish; County; and the second listing Half yearly Payments; Proportionate repayment of the Loan; Interest at £5 per cent per Annum.
