3 ALsS, all on letterheads of Coombe Bissett, Salisbury; 27 April and 25 May 1947, and 11 Oct. 1949, total 5pp., 12mo and 8vo. The first letter begins 'My sister Dorothy has told me of your idea of having a drawing of your husband. I shall be pleased to undertake this, though I regard it as the most exacting branch of my trade.' Describes in detail what the process would entail. The second cancels a sitting, 'Owing to a muddle about the future to which I am especially liable'. The third letter is one of condolence: 'Although I must be among the very last of the fortunate to get to know & to love Robert, I must try to add my poor word to the great stream of tributes that I know will be reaching you - [...] I want ardently to try & tell you how I loved every minute of those delightful hours I spent with Robert - sometimes with you sometimes alone, talking & drawing in that thrilling special privilege of scrutiny to which he submitted with such welcoming grace [...] But I have said nothing of him - his wonderful warm good sense, his aesthetic judgements always so sympathetic to my taste, his angelic directness & candour, the fascinating humour, benign philosophy.'
