[London Gliding Club, Dunstable Downs, Bedfordshire.] Manuscript 'Progress Log Book' of '[L Sennett?]', containing details of training flights with signed comments by instructors including J. M. Hands, G. R. Williams and J. Wingett.
21pp, 12mo. In unpaginated stapled booklet of twelve leaves, in light-blue wraps. Printed on front cover: 'London Gliding Club | PROGRESS LOG BOOK', with space for the trainee's name and no. In fair condition, aged and worn, in worn covers, with one central horizontal fold. The trainee has written his name on the front cover, but this has been worn away, and it appears to read 'L Sennett' or 'L Bennett'. Printed on the first page is a list of twenty-four 'Flying Training Exercises'. Printed across each of booklet's eleven double-page openings are eight columns headed: Date; Exercise; Machine Type; Type of flight; Duration of flight; Height; Remarks; Instructor'. The instructors' signed remarks, which are confined to the first six of the eleven openings, are left by a number of individuals, including J. M. Hands, G. R. Williams and J. Wingett. Two examples are typical. In the first set of remarks, on 13 August 1960, Hands writes: 'Pupil has shown good progress on course. General flying satisfactory. Tends to leave round-out rather late. Circuit judgement needs attention. Stalls & spins required'. And on 10 July 1961, in the last set of remarks, Wingett writes: '3 O's in T.31. very well flown and judged. Suggest few more circuits in T.31. with practise [sic] cable break.'
