Addressed ‘To / The Paymasters General of His Majesty’s Forces, or the Paymasters General for the time being -’. Signed ‘G Hotham Lt Genl. / D. Dundas Lt Gl. / Cathcart Lt Gen.’ Reads ‘We the General Officers appointed to Inspect & Regulate the Clothing of the Army, Do hereby Certify that the Clothing for the Loyal Surrey Rangers, commanded by Colonel Potter, having been Viewed and found agreeable to His Majesty’s Instructions, We Desire You to Comply with Payment of this Assignment amounting to Two Thousand and five Pounds, eleven Shillings, and seven pence, which Sum takes up the Offreckonings of the said Rangers to the 24th. December 1800.’ On the reverse of the document are the manuscript accounts, with signed memorandum that payment has been ‘Entered at the Board of General Officers’, followed by autograph note: ‘Entd. in the Office of the Paym: Genl / Jn.
