See Atkyns’ entries, and those of his father, in the Oxford DNB and History of Parliament (the latter referring to his ‘great Ancient and Present State of Glostershire, eulogizing the Stuarts’). Both items (seemingly unconnected) date from after George Smyth’s acquisition of Nibley House on his marriage in 1691. The papers of Smyth’s family are in the Gloucestershire Record Office.

See his entry in the Oxford DNB. 1p, 12mo. In fair condition, lightly aged, with slight creasing to one corner. Folded once. In addition to the signature ‘Stanley Rous’, the salutation ‘Dear Max’ is written in Rous’s autograph. (Robertson’s full Wandsworth address is typed out at the head.) The note reads: ‘The enclosed translation of an article which appeared in a Continental newspaper has just been handed to me. I sent it on at once, in case it is of help to you.’ See image

8vo: 36 pp. Stitched. In original grey wraps. Text clear and entire on aged and spotted paper, with staining to first leaf. Wraps heavily stained and worn. Title written out in a modern hand on front wrap. Scarce. Four copies on COPAC: at the British Library, Bodleian, Cambridge and Durham. According to one source the subject concerns 'the author's dispute with Lord Rous, later Earl of Stradbroke, regarding his right to the living of Doddington; includes correspondence with Rous'.
