In 1913, while Professor of Anatomy at King's College, London, he was the first authority to debunk the Piltdown Man hoax. 1p, 4to. Signed ‘E. Mellanby’. He will be happy to see Dr Simpson on her visit to London, and has ‘raised the matter of the Mackenzie Institute with Professor Greenwood again and arranged to send a statistician, Dr. Teleky, to St. Andrews to review the whole situation and see whether it is possible to put Dr. Simpson’s work along lines which will give definite results.’ He suggests meetings before remarking, ‘You seem to have been having lively times up near your part of the world lately and I expect you are full of excitement over the raids on the east coast of Scotland.’
