INDENTURE OF 1672: 'ex[ecute]d. by Rich: Lighfoot Clerk to ye Trustees', on one side each of two large vellum skins. Wear at folds, affecting the occasional word or phrase. Docketed on grubby reverse of first skin. Borders in red, and with attractive hand-drawn Royal Crest within large initial at head. 'Betwene the right honourable ffrancis Lord Hawley Sr. Charles Harbord Knight his majesties Surveyor generall Sr. William Howard of Tandridge in the County of Surrey Knight Sr. John Talbott of Laroste in the County of Wilts Knight and William Harbord of Grafton Park in the County of Northampton Esquire [...] And the right honourable Charles Lord St. John and Ralph London Esqre. and Henry Guy of the parish of St. Martin in the ffields in the County of Midds Esqr of the other part'. Signed, over the seals, by all parties apart from Guy. Concerning the sale of 'Fee farme rents and other small rents [...] reserved and issuing out of and for the Rectory of Aweston in the County of Yorke', as well as the Manor of Sutton, Gilling, Hartforth, the Chapel of Cloughton, fflasby [Flasby], Norton, Wasse, Wintringham Rectory, Sledmore, ffriday Thorpe [Fridaythorpe], Oswald Kirke [Oswaldkirk], Liversage, Skipness and other places. INDENTURE OF 1674: 'Per Thomam Cobbe', on one side each of two pieces of vellum (one large and one half size). Attractive flourishing initial at head. Signed 'Hen: Guy' at foot across seal. Aged, and with one three-inch closed tear. Between Guy and Sir Cyril Wyche (1632?-1707) of Flanchford, Surrey, one of the Six Clerks in Chancery, who preceded Pepys as President of the Royal Society. With dated signature ('Wm. Beversham') of Sir William Beversham, one of the Masters in Chancery. Docketed, with three signatures, on reverse. RECEIPT (one page, octavo, good, on aged paper worn at foot): for five shillings, executed by Lightfoot, 'being the Consideration to be paid mentioned in a deed of Conveyance of the date hereof for severall ffee ffarms Rents and other Rents in the County of Yorks'. Signed by Hawley, Talbot, Harbord, Howard. PARTICULAR (one page, octavo, ruled in red): Docketed '18th. July 1672. - A Particular of Fee farm Rents in Yorkshire purchased by Henry Guy Esq'. Apparently a leaf from a longer document, states that the sum of £235 is to be had 'Out of A Watermill and two ffullers Mills in Hunslett [...]'.
