Begins: ‘My dear Sir, / I am much obliged by the kind note just received, though I am sorry we shall not have the pleasure of your company on Monday. As you are kind enough to offer us your assistance on future occasions, I write to say that the remaining concerts of the season take place on March 4, and May 6, when we shall be very glad to see you.’ He is enclosing a copy of ‘our prospectus’, as the recipient ‘may be interested to know what the programmes will be on those occasions’. Postscript: ‘Our rehearsals are always held on the morning of the concerts at 9.30 in Shoreditch Town Hall.’
