Advertisement leaf containing list of architectural books.
Dimensions roughly eight inches by five and a half. Very good on aged paper. All but top edge rough. One page, blank reverse. Announces that Webley sells 'BOOKS in all FACULTIES and SCIENCES, Containing upwards of Twelve Thousand Volumes, in Various Languages, and in every Branch of Literature, Wholesale and Retail, Old and New, at the most Reasonable Rates.' Three columns of subjects are listed, below which are two columns of 'Books in Architecture', arranged by format from Folio to Twelves, containing fifty-eight titles from 'Campbell's Vitruvius Britannicus, 3 vols' to 'Miles's Measuring'. In italic at foot: 'Most Money for any Library or Parcel of Books, or Books exchanged.' From the British Library catalogue and the BBTI it appears that Webley traded from Holborn between 1760 and 1770, and from the Bible and Crown from 1762. The British Library holds the catalogue of an auction (including architectural books) by him on 15 February 1762. In 1772 and 1778 I. Taylor published books from the same address.
