George Earl of Leicester, | President of the Society of Antiquaries. | My Lord, | We whose names are hereunto subscribed request leave to signify to your lordship that Edward-Wedlake [sic] Brayley, Esq. of Wildernes Row London is desirous of the honour of becoming a member of the Society of Antiquaries, and as he is a gentleman greatly conversant with the history and antiquities of this kingdom, which he has shewn by several valuable and interesting publications, we think he will, if chosen, be a very useful member of the Society. | [signed] Monkhouse | [signed] Saml. Foart Simmons | [signed] M Garthshore | [signed] J. P. Malcolm.'
