This embarrasses me exceedingly as I have engaged myself with a party who go from the Abbey to the Hall and I should be infinitely obliged to you if you happen to be enough acquainted with the D. of Ancaster to apply to Him, If you would do me the Favour to ask for one for a Fried of yours.' In the final part he reiterates that he will be 'in a very foolish Situation without some pass to carry me along wt. my party'. The letter ends: 'All This Nonsense is become so impossible at present That I am sure you will excuse my troubling You upon it.'
