See his entry in the Oxford DNB. Both items are somewhat sunned, but in good overall condition. ONE: ALS. 1p, 4to. Folded three times for postage. Signed ‘John Masefield’. After thanking her for her kind letter he continues: ‘It is for me to thank you, not the other way about, for you are good & nice & clever, & I enjoyed your being here & shall miss you in your corner dreadfully.’ He concludes: ‘Mind you don’t desert us, but come up to see us from time to time & don’t visit till the bluebell time.’ Postscript: ‘I send a little card of the Wanderer, the ship I made the verses about.’ TWO: Autograph Inscription Signed. 1p, 12mo. Placed at head of page: ‘For Jeannie McConnell, / from / John Masefield’. The only other writing on the leaf is in another hand, in pencil, at the foot of the same page: ‘The fly-leaf from a 1924 impression of John Masefield’s ‘Collected Poems’, first published in 1923. The date 1924 may bear some relation to the date of the A.L.S., the recipient of which was also Jeannie McConnell.’
