Autograph itemised Receipt Signed by the Southwark stationer John Muggeridge, made out to 'Mr. Cromp' and listing five purchases including ink, blotting paper, wax and quills.

The first and most expensive of the six items, at £1 6s 0d, is 'a Book 6 qn fine Medium ruld. 9 lines Vellum <?> lind marbled & Alphabet'. Other items include '1/2 pind red Ink & Stone bottle', 'blotting paper', '1/2 pound supfine [sic] wax' and '400 best Quills'. The six items total £1 14s 6d. Docketed 'No. 77' on the reverse in a contemporary hand, and, in a modern hand, 'MUGGERIDGE Jn | 1777.' BBTI has Muggeridge at the following addresses: 92 St Margaret's Hill, Borough (1769-1775); 236 Borough (1810-30); 82 Upper Thames St (1810-11). BBTI also notes that Muggeridge was 'Apprenticed to T Bradley. Merchant Taylor's Company: livery 1776, master 1784. Father, master of & partner of Nathaniel; father of & master of Samuel.
