In plain brown cloth, with green printed dustwrapper glued-down (by publisher) onto the endpapers by the flaps. In good condition, lightly-aged, in lightly-worn dustrapper with closed tear at rear. Inscribed on the front free endpaper: 'To | Mr. Christopher Fry, | With best compliments | from the Author, | S. n. Ray | 7.4.98'. Fry makes around fifty autograph corrections to the text, giving a list of them over the rear endpapers. The book is accompanied by a TLS, in addressed envelope, from 'Prof. S N Ray (Retd.)' to 'Mr. Christopher Fry, | Author', dated from the Cambridgeshire address of 'Dr. S N Ray (JR.)', 7 April 1998. Describing himself as 'an Indian teacher', Ray states that he has 'critically examined' some of Fry's plays in his book, which he is enclosing for his 'kind perusal and comments'. He continues: 'Presently I am visiting this country and shall be staying at the above address for a period of 3 to 4 months.
