In the following transcription the manuscript parts are in square brackets: ‘By Command of the Commissioners for Executing the Office of Lord High Admiral of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, &c. / To [Mr William Mullice] / hereby appointed [Gunner, 2d Class, Additional] of Her Majesty’s Ship “Cumberland” for service to “Ætna” / THE Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty having appointed you [Gunner, 2d Class, Addl] of Her Majesty’s [Ship “Cumberland”] their Lordships hereby direct you to repair on board that [Ship] at [Sheerness], and to report to me the day on which you shall have joined her. / You are further desired to acknowledge the receipt of this communication forthwith, [addressing your Letter to The Secretary of The Admiralty.] / By Command of their Lordships, / [W.
