The recipient, who is not named, is presumably a bookseller. He is returning two of the books, keeping only the ‘Cabinet Lawyer’, whose price he asks. He wants to acquire a copy of the latest edition of ‘la Biographie des contemporains de M. Vapereau’: ‘naturellement plus complète, et où beaucoup d’erreurs se trouvent, je suppose, corrigées’. He thanks him for ‘le beau et très utile livre dont vous m’avez fait si gracieusement cadeau’. If a subscription has been opened ‘pour le livre de notre digne et excellent ami Karl Blind, n’oubliez pas que je tiens expressément à être un des Souscripteurs’.
