Addressed to 'Miss Marie E. Meredith' and signed 'Arthur W. Pinero'. Begins: 'It is with a heavy heart that I tell you I am pledged, wit h Mrs. Pinero, to remain in town next Sunday'. He would have taken great pleasure in visiting Box HIll 'under such circumstances as you propose'. He concludes with the request that she 'mention my name kindly to your father'.
