English novelist and politician (1765-1846). The recipient (c1778-1863) was an influential Brighton solicitor, owner of Queen's Park. One page, octavo. On discoloured and lightly creased paper, with fraying and several small closed tears, but with no loss to text. An affectionate letter inviting Attree to Harlow. 'Fred. Anson [Ward's brother-in-law] is a very good fellow but I dont know when either his sister or I can forgive him for botching up till to day that you were master of your time comparatively in Sepr, & that you would be willing to gratify us by acceding to our frequent requests to see you here, [...] there is no one whom Mary-Anne [Ward's wife, daughter of Lieutenant General Sir George Anson] & myself would be more glad to see, for as long a time as you can spare [...]'. Signed 'R Plumer Ward.' Postscript: 'If you come to Harlow in the Coach, we will send for you, or M A will be delighted to fetch you with her Ponies.'
