The seven signatures are on top of one another, on both sides of a 12mo leaf removed from an autograph album (evidently owned by a Scottish concert-goer). In good condtion, lightly aged. On the verso are the signatures of Wilhelm Backhaus (1884-1969), German pianist; Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962), Austrian violinist; Maurice ; Mark Hambourg (1879-1960), Russian pianist (dated by him to 1923); with that of Mischa Elman (1891-1967), Russian violinist, on a slip of paper laid down at the foot of the leaf (dated by him ‘Albert Hall, Stirling 2/2/27’).

On 7 x 10.5 piece of orange paper, removed from an autograph album. In good condition, lightly aged and worn. Expansive signature, with surname underlined and dots to i's like dashes. Reads: 'Good luck to you! | Benno Moiseiwitsch | Decr. 1946'. Autographs on reverse, dated to 21 July 1946, of composer 'Charles Hambourg' and pianist 'Irene Kohler' (1909-1996).

For more about Hambourg, see his entry in the Oxford DNB. He writes: 'My dear Cyril | I'm afraid the Chappell Piano is necessary for me, as however good a theatre piano, it would not be good enough for a performance at your "Grand Benefit." | Yours with best wishes | Mark Hambourg'. Maude's 'Birthday Benefit Matinée' took place for charity at the Haymarket Theatre, 24 April 1942.
