Both items in fair condition, on aged and worn paper. Letter One: 4pp., 12mo. Harvey begins: 'Of course I well remember the too short time when I had the pleasure of being your colleague at the British Museum.' He would like to see Aldrich's 'old Dutch masters' but may not be able to visit him at Bowes Park before 'returning to reconstruction work in France in which I am interested'. He suggests a meeting in the new year, before enquiring whether Aldrich has 'got Sir Sidney Colvin's opinion of your Old masters. He is very interested in these things.' Letter Two: 2pp., 4to. He thanks him for his letter, and 'delighted to have much good news of dear old Eccles, whose kindly personality will always be one of the pleasantest of my British Museum memories'. He discusses a recent visit to India. 'The political situation, though delicate, is much more encouraging than it was two or three years ago and I have great confidence in the fine character & personality of the present Viceroy, which must appeal to all that is best in thoughtful India'. He has resumed his 'prison visiting work at Leeds, which though sometimes very discouraging is I believe worthwhile in spite of occasional disappointments.' In the final paragraph he alludes to 'the remarkable story of Dr. Bridge's dream'.
