An attractive document, embossed with a government one shilling stamp, and bearing the Westminster coat of arms, supported by two dogs, engraved by Warrington, 27 Strand, in top left-hand corner. Reads (MS additions in square brackets): '[Imp: Hopkinson] | Grosvenor Estate Office, | 9, Davies Street, Grosvenor Square | Received the [March 30th] 184[9] of [Richard Jones Esqr. Thirty six Pounds] for One Year's Rent due at Lady Day last to the Marquess of Westminster, [10 Davies St. 47 So Audley St | [1 . 1] Income Tax | [34 . 19] Cash | £[36 . - . -] | WR [695]' Signed 'Westminster'. Jones may possibly be the political economist (1790-1855) or the father (1802-89) of Edward Burne Jones or someone completely different.
