Three pages, 12mo. Very good. The letterhead, in red, carries Mayhew's crest, with his initials 'HM' and motto 'LABOR VINCIT'. An insight into doings within the Mayhew family. As her correspondent has 'not been here', she is concerned that she 'must have offended you in some way or another'. 'I have always looked out for you on the Saturday - & in vain | I am afraid that you will will [sic] retaliate and say that I ought to have been to you - granted but I can assure you that I have not been able to get out of an evening lately & on the Tuesday's | As it is now such good weather always likes me to go on the river with him. | Papa left town for Edinburgh this morning, so that now I have got my time to myself you can to see me soon.' The Mayhews have 'had no party or you may be sure I should have let you know'.
