Each of the seven plans is on a 27 x 35.5 cm piece of paper.The source has not been established, and each carries the pencil date 1878 in a modern hand. They are uniform in layout, each with heading of the name of the theatre followed by a plan in the form of a 22 x 15 cm lithographic illustration of the respective theatre, as viewed from the stage, with the seating numbered. Beneath each plan are names of proprietors, lessees and managers, prices of admission, and in every case the details of the two ticket agents ‘Mr. Mitchell’s, Royal Library’ and Keith, Prowse, & Co, in each case ending with: ‘Natural Flowers. - Theatrical, Opera, Bridal, Court, and every description of Bouquets, Hair Flowers, Dress Flowers Trails, Shoulder Knots, and every description of Hair and Dress Trimmings in Natural Flowers. / James Bromwich, F.R.H.S., Court Florist, 25, Buckingham Palace Road, S.W.’ In fair condition, lightly aged and creased, with dogeared corners and some fraying at head. The seven theatres are: Theatre Royal, Lyceum, lessee and manageress Mrs Bateman; Royal Adelphi Theatre, sole proprietor Mr Benjamin Webster, actual and responsible manager Mr F. B. Chatterton; St James’s Theatre, lessee and manager Mr Samuel Hayes; Royal Princess’s Theatre, actual and responsible manager, Mr F. B. Chatterton; Her Majesty’s Theatre (Opera House, Haymarket), lessee and manager J. H. Mapleson Esq.; Gaiety Theatre, sole lessee and manger Mr. John Hollingshead; Drury Lane Theatre, lessee and manager F. Chatterton, Esq. On the reverse of each sheet are one or two advertisements, for products ranging from Schweitzer’s Cocoatina to Nosotti’s Artistic Furniture, and including L. T. Piver, perfumer and glover, and F. & C.
