Four pages, 12mo. Very good, with unobtrusive remains of stub along one edge. In interesting letter discussing the state of the English stage. Her tardy response is due to 'pressure of work". 'What you say about the present condition of the stage is only too true. I know of clever, experienced, even brilliant actors & actresses who are idle or acting in worthless plays on tour, while pretty girls & well-to-do young men without talent or experience appear to find no difficulty in getting engagements in the West End, adding by this lack of capacity to the poor effect of the poor plays they appear in.' She includes herself among those 'who give time & study to gratify ourselves as playwrights', receiving 'any amount of "encouragement" from Managers' - 'but when it come to production they prefer such stuff as bad translations of bad French or German pieces, or plays written round one part, to a symmetrical or even a strong play'. Concludes by saying that her husband has been interested in Reeve's letter, being 'a great admirer of you in the part of "Count Fores", in which he says "you looked as well as you acted" '. Neatly docketed at head 'From Florence Warden - Novelist'.
