(1864-1947). Chemist, Director of the International Institute Examinations Enquiry, and first Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka. One page, folio. Very good. Marked 'Personal' and bearing the Society's stamp. He is sorry Menzies has been ill and hopes 'the cure is radical and that you will soon be quite all right again. I have been pretty busy but am generally fit.' Regarding Menzies 'suggestion for a paper', Hartog's 'first idea was that Ross, the Director of the School' [Sir Edward Denison Ross, 1871-1940] should write it, 'but he seems rather loth to do it as he does not know the history of the School. I will talk to the Chairman of the Governing Body, Sir John Hewett, before I agree finally. [...] On the whole I should rather prefer to have the paper, after the King has visited the School than before.' Signed 'P. J. Hartog'.
