One page of text, 12mo, bifolium, some dusting not obscuring text, minor stain, mainly good condition. Text: Having just received a letter from Liebig I have called a meeting of the Committee [of Philosophical Society of Glasgow presumably] for tomorrow in the Andersonian Library at half past two - I enclose the letter, which you will perhaps shew to Dr. Balfour [John Hutton Balfour, Professor of Botany at the University of Glasgow, etc.] and request his attendance. We must endeavour to overcome his scruples. Notes: A.

2pp, 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged, with thin strip of paper from mount adhering to reverse of second leaf. The recipient is not identified. Begins: 'My Dear Sir, | I would have had much pleasure in accepting your invitation, & meeting Professor Liebig [Justus von Liebig (1803-1873), German chemist], but while you are enjoying yourselves, I expect to be a hundred miles at least on my way to Scotland in the Royal yacht.' He hopes to be able to make Liebig's acquaintance on his return.
