1p., 12mo. In good condition, lightly aged, with thin stain from mount at head. He is enclosing 'Mr. Layard's Autograph which I have promised you.' He is sorry to inform her that he has 'lent my Book to some friend who has not returned it.' He will send it to her when he gets it back. In his youth Rassam had worked for the British archaeologist Sir Austen Henry Layard ()1817-1894), and the two remained friends for life.
