If you will let me know what Numbers you require of the Gothic Ornaments {his work first published in 1838] I will endeavour to let you have them. It is very probable that you would not get them at my publishers as there being so little demand for the work now in Numbers we bind them all up as far as we can- But if you will let me know what you require I will send them to you and charge you only [underlined] 2/6 per Number.

In original brown cloth wraps, with cover bearing white paper label printed in red and black reading 'HUME | METAL ON LEATHER. | 1863.' Tight, on aged paper, in rebacked wraps. Inscribed on front free endpaper 'To W. W. F. Hume Esquire from his the writer 3rd March 1863. Title-page also in red and black. Note on reverse of title: 'This Paper is printed in the Transactions of the Historic Society of Lancashire and Cheshire, Vol. XIV, for Session 1861-62.
