See her entry in the Oxford DNB, and Elaine Lomax’s 2016 book, ‘The Writings of Hesba Stretton: Reclaiming the Outcast’. 1p, 16mo. Cut down to 11.5 x 12 cm. In good condition, lightly aged and worn. Folded once for postage. The recipient is not named, but is clearly the secretary of the Religious Truth Society (who appear to have published the MS referred to in the letter as ‘The Sweet Story of Old’ (see Lomax). Signed ‘Hesba Stretton’. ‘Dear Sir, / I forward by this post my promised M. S., which I have called “From Bethlehem to Olivet”, as being the best title I can think of; but of course you are free to call it what you like, if the committee pass it. If there are any suggestions you wish to make I should be glad to hear them. / Your’s faithfully, / Hesba Stretton’.
