The first page is headed 'Establishment of the Forces and Garrison of Gibraltar | A Regiment of Foot | Field & Staff Officers'. Giving the cost by day and year for 'Field & Staff Officers' (in margin: 'A Regiment of Foot'); 'One Company' (in margin: 'Commanded by Brigadier General Fowke'); 'The Pay of Eight Comps: more of the like Numbrs: & Rates as ye. Compy. Above md.' and 'One Company of Grenadiers' (in margin: 'Consisting of 10 Companies of 890 Private Men in Each'); total (in margin: 'In all 815 Men Officers included'); and 'Two Regiments more Commanded by Lord Tyrawley & M: G: Read | Of the like Numbers'. The second page (48) is headed 'Royal Regimt: of Fuziliers' and gives similar accounts for: 'Field & Staff Officers' (in margin: 'Royal Regimt. of Fuziliers'); 'One Company' (in margin: 'Commanded by Lt. Gl: Hargrave'); 'The Pay of Eight Compts: more of the like Numbrs & Rates as ye: Compy: Above md.' and 'One Company of Grenadiers' (in margin: 'Consisting of 10 Companies of 70 Private Men in Each.'); with total ('In all 815 Men Officers included'). Hargrave was Colonel of the Royal Regiment of Fuzileers, 1739-1751. Originally accompanied another document of Gibraltar interest (now offered separately), signed by Richard Arnold (1682-1742), Deputy Secretary at War in England, both items appearing to be official War Office departmental documents. Note: "An Anglo-Dutch force captured Gibraltar from Spain in 1704 during the War of the Spanish Succession on behalf of the Habsburg claim to the Spanish throne. The territory was subsequently ceded to Great Britain "in perpetuity" under the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713"
