The recipient Lieut.-Col. Edward Barnes Peacock (b.1873; fl.1955), son of Sir Barnes Peacock (1810-1890), Chief Justice of Bengal, served in the 31st Punjab Regiment. The present document is printed in dark-blue ink on 38.5 x 25 cm piece of thin wove paper. The main body of text comprises twenty-five lines in small print, enclosed in decorative border. Aged and creased, with slight loss at bottom right, taking away a small part of the border. Headed: 'To | Lieut.-Colonel E. B. Peacock, | Controller of Military Accounts, | E. C. & U. P. DISTRICT.
