He thanks him for his letter of the previous day, and looks forward to seeing him on the Monday 'at the “Shakespeare Head Press” about 11.20 (and afterwards to the pleasure of your company at lunch)'. With the envelope, addressed to 'F. A. H. Eyles, Esq. | “The Observer” Office, | Newton Street, | High Holborn, W.C'.

1p., landscape 12mo. In good condition, lightly aged. Six lines of text, headed by the date, signed 'Roger Kemys Recever', with two-line addition signed 'Roger Kemys'. The document records the receipt of the 72s 4d which is the part of 'Marten Flower' of the £6 19s due to Lord Berkeley 'for ye felons goods by band', and for £3 10s. Docketed on reverse.

Three printed, interesting and uncommon items celebrating the three-hundredth anniversary of the defeat of the Spanish Armada. All three in good condition, with light signs of age and wear. The first two items relate to a theatrical production at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, to commemorate the anniversary, Item One being a catalogue of an exhibition that had travelled up from Plymouth. ONE: 'Catalogue of the Exhibition of Armada and Elizabethan Relics Held in the Grand Saloon of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London. Opened October 24th, 1888. Compiled by W. H. K. "Royal Institution of Great Britain. Weekly Evening Meeting, Friday, February 7, 1890. John Rae [...] in the Chair". Seven pages, unbound as issued, stapled, good condition. No copy listed on COPAC or WorldCat.

On one side of a small skin of vellum (circa 28 x 29 cm). In fair condition, aged and worn. In English, with signed Latin note on reverse by a notary public. Boundaries given. Scan on application.

Both essay and letter on aged and brittle paper, with some chipping to extremities (not affecting text). Both are written in a tight, close hand. The letter: 2pp., 12mo.

2pp., 12mo. Good, on lightly-aged paper. She hopes that she may, 'without being needlessly intrusive', suggest that 'someone, well up on the Elizabethan dramatists, should write a brilliant critical notice of Massinger's works'. She thinks that it would be 'a means of advertisement of great value' if the recipient could 'find the writer & the vehicle'. She suggests 'W. G. Henley of the New Review', who 'has all the literature of that time, & before, at his fingers ends.

12mo: [xii] + xxiv + 76 pp. In original red cloth boards, with 'FLORES POETARUM BRITANNICORUM.' stamped in gilt on front board. Lightly aged and foxed, in slightly grubby binding, but good and tight. A few marginal notes in a contemporary hand.
